Tioga High School's Landscaping class is transforming our campus into something we can be proud of! Check this pics or stop by the campus to see the progress they have made. Students have been working on landscape design, prunning and trimming of existing plants, planting new deer and drought resistant plants around campus, constructing a waterfall/pond for central campus location and upgrading accessories and decorations around the entire school!!! More high school students pass state-mandated exit exam
Written by Lacey Peterson, The Union Democrat August 24, 2010 12:34 pm
More Tuolumne and Calaveras county students passed the California High School Exit Exam on the first try than most of their counterparts statewide.
The California Department of Education has released the 2009-10 high school exit exam results, showing 80.6 of 10th-grade students who took the exam in March for the first time passed the English portion, and 80.7 percent passed the math portion.
“Passing the Exit Exam is a high school graduation requirement because students need these important basic skills to be successful in college, the workforce, and in life,” said Jack O’Connell, state superintendent of public instruction.
Countywide, Tuolumne and Calaveras county students performed better than the state average.
While only 80 percent of Sonora Union High School District sophomores (including alternative education students) passed math on their first attempt, the number is higher for those attending Sonora High itself – 84 percent, said Principal Todd Dearden.
The school increased three percentage points in English, with 90 percent passing on their first attempt, he added.
“It shows that our core group of instruction is doing what it needs to do,” Dearden said.
The math portion tests students at seventh- and eighth-grade levels, and at the tenth-grade level in English.
“Frankly, those are skills you should have to graduate high school,” he said.
Bret Harte High Principal Dean Way agrees.
“We’re pleased,” Way said. “The teachers are doing their jobs.”
Way said the district’s goal is to be more than 90 percent in both areas, a mark it attained in math and neared in English (88).
Freshman students are given a practice exit exam diagnostic test during required STAR testing, Way said.
Students struggling in particular areas are given extra support and tutorials before they take the exit exam for real, Way said.
Gold Rush Charter students fared the worst — only 65 percent of students passed English and 60 percent of students passed math on their first attempts.
The exit exam is a two-part standardized test in English-language arts and math and was signed into law in 1999, but the 2006 class was the first to be held accountable. The test is administered for the first time in 10th grade and offered several more times before graduation.
Students with disabilities are exempt from meeting the exit exam requirement, but many continue to take the exam, the Department of Education said.

2009-2010 school year
Well the 2009, 2010 school year is finally coming to an end. As a senior I am very excited to graduate, but at the same time I will be sad to leave. The staff here at Tioga is great, but sadly many of them are unfortunately being laid off and will not be returning this coming fall. This will more than likely be very detrimental to this campus. A very special student, Scott Ewen, will also be leaving this year. Being a senior, it is his time to move on to bigger and better things in life. He plans to attend Columbia College and attain his general education. So I would like to say a final farewell too all my teachers and peers. Thank you for always being there throughout theses past four years.
End of School
Tioga High School is wrapping the 2009-2010 school year. We just finished taking the STAR tests and the students feel like they did pretty good. The end of the school year is a happy and sad time for many people. For the graduation seniors it is the beginning of their new lives in different places. For many of the teachers at Tioga they will be getting laid off and will be relocatting for new jobs. This has been a great year and many people hate to see it come to an end. Please come and celebrate the Gradutaion Festivities at Mary Laveroni Park on June 8th at 6 o clock. There will be 28 graduating senior in the class of 2010. I've included some pictures of the teachers being laid off and some of the baseball/softball pictures from this year.

Here at Tioga, we are anticipating our spring STAR testing coming up soon! These last two years, our scores have been a little rough due to the issues that many of our students have been stressed about, but this year we expect great improvement. The students are diligently preparing by studying up and taking practice tests which will be very helpful. I’m sure that this year our scores will shoot through the roof!
It is finally spring!
Here at Tioga High School we are enjoying the sunny weather and the beautiful aromas of spring. After a tough winter up on the hill, we are all ready for summer and spring is just one closer to that time of the year. The seniors are ecstatic for graduation and starting new lives in different places. For the Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors, they are preparing for the statewide STAR tests. This test will prove that throughout the trouble with budget cuts, our teachers have still performed well and have taught our students tremedously.
The Heart of Tioga!!!
As a student here at Tioga High school I would like to tell the school board why we should keep Mrs. Bradley, and why she is so important to us. Mrs. Bradley makes such a huge impact on every student that has attended the high school. Mrs. Bradley has been here for fourteen years and every student that has came though this scool has a wonderful story to tell about her. At the board meeting on March 22nd, there were amazing letters written about her from students from the past...did the board listen? I guess we will have to wait and see. Mrs. Bradley has changed everyone's world and she believes in everyone of her students, no matter what. She will push them as hard as she can so they will walk with their class on Grad night. Mrs. Bradley is there for the best and worst of times for each of her students. She loves them all with all her heart, and she has a story for each one of them. Mrs. Bradley is the heart of Tioga; without her here we would fall apart!!

Community Drive for Athletic Fields!!!!!
Coming Soon, we will be beginning a community fundraiser for our athletic fields on Tioga High's campus. We would like to have our own softball and baseball fields on campus! The hot shots crew is going to be helping us take down trees on our property where we would like the fields to go. We are looking at finding an excavation company to help us with the flattening of the land afterwards! We will have a sign up on Ferretti Rd that will be keeping track of community donations! We need everybody to spread the word about this in order to give the people of Groveland an idea of how they can help the kids!!!
More info to come soon!!!

Tioga Baseball!
Tioga Baseball is stepping up their program for the 2010 season. With new field renovation underway, Tioga High School is putting in a brand new batting cage. This will give the baseball and softball teams an opportunity to work on their batting skills. Prior to this newly added accomodation the teams would not be able to hit due to rain because the baseball field would be rained out. Also, the batting cages will be located on campus at Tioga High School, so there will be much easier access. We are working on getting a pitching machine and are planning on doing some fundraisers in the near future.

Walking in a winter wonderland! Cori Sanchez
So here we are back at school once again. I am here to tell you about our winter formal, which was held on December 18th. The dance went great! There was about 30 attendees at the lake lodge. We had the best DJ anyone could ask for, our very own Mr. King. Kids danced all night and if they were not dancing there were eating the amazing food we had there. I hope people enjoyed themselves and we hope to see you all at the next dance, which may be Homecoming. See you all there!
Welcome Back to School
Hey every one, welcome back, I hope you had had a great vacation. It's a new year, and it's time to start things over and to gain new learning experiences. I hope you look forward to this semester as much as I do. Remember: be cool, stay in school!!!

Tioga 62 ROP 51
On November 30th, the varsity boys T-Wolves defeated conference foe Sierra Ridge (ROP) at home 62-51. ROP has a quality squad this year and should compete at the top of the conference. The Wolves bounced back after the Waterford defeat to garner their first win of the season. The boys played well down the stretch making good decisions and connecting on their free throw opportunities. Leading the way for the Wolves were seniors Myles Rodiguez and Brandon Cathrein. Brandon had 12 points and 13 rebounds. Myles had 15 points, 4 rerbounds and 6 steals. Sophomore Preston West played a great first varsity game of his career scoring 12 points and hitting key free throws in the 4th quarter for the Wolves. Tioga will get some great experience in the upcoming Big Valley and Bret Harte tournaments the next two weekends!!!
Go T-Wolves!!!!!

Tioga Boys Basketball: Waterford 54 Tioga 50
The Varsity boys basketball team opened up their season playing against Waterford on November 24th in Waterford. The boys were missing a few of their returning players because some of them were busy eating too much turkey or riding on rollercoasters!! In all seriousness, the boys reall competed hard against a much bigger school. Waterford has over 600 kids in attendance this year. We were leading for a lot of the game and had chances to win all the way up until the final buzzer. Some of the boys were still sucking wind from having to play in the entire JV game no more than an hour before! If we would have connected and made more of ou free throws, the game would have turned out in our favor. The boys only made 18 out of 38 possible free throws, so that was frustrating. The positive was that they competed very hard and played a very good team very well. We don't have a lot of players on this year's team, but we do have a lot of talent. The kids should realize once we play with each other for a few weeks how good we actually could be by the end of the season! Keep working hard fellas!!!!
Coach Dutton
Why I enjoy Tioga High School by Sheldon Crouse
I like Tioga High School for many reasons. Everyone here at Tioga feels like we are family. The academic standard at Tioga is very high and students come out of here with much knowledge of the real world opportunites they will encounter shortly after high school. In journalism we realize that we will not be able to procrastinate with our job or we may get fired. In Mr. Dutton's personal finance class students learn how to manage their money so they will not be like most American's and they may actually have money in the future. In Physical Education students learn how to exercise, with a few minor exceptions, they will try to fight against childhood obesity. Those are just a few classes that some schools do not take seriously of how much it can impact a child. Our teachers are phenomenal at what they do and i would not trade them for the world!
Life At Tioga High, From the Perspective of Thoren Bradley
Life here at Tioga High School is different to say the least. Exciting is'nt the first word most students here would use to describe the atmosphere at our school. As I make my way towards the end of my last year here at Tioga it's becoming easier to reflect on the positives here at Tioga. Such as knowing everyone of your classmates well, being able to walk to class within passing time without rushing, and Teachers being on a personal basis with each student. Times go by where our kids may get bored and feel that our school life is stagnet, but our opportunity for success here at Tioga is second to none, mainly because of the undivided attention offered to each student.
Home of the Timberwolves!!
Hey everyone I'm Cori Sanchez, and I'm here to tell you a few things about our amazing Tioga High School! I have been going here for the last 3 years and I really couldn't ask for a better school. We just got back from Thanksgiving break about a week ago, and our next break is Christmas which is in 3 weeks. Basketball just picked up once again for the girls and boys, so come out and cheer on the Tioga Timberwolves. I love going to all the games, and showing off the school spirit. We just had our Sadie Hawkins dance and it was a lot of fun. Our next dance is winter formal, and I can't wait for more exciting dances to go to. I LOVE how Tioga is small and everyone knows everyone like a family, and all the classes are small so you are alway one on one with the teachers. I love all the teachers here; they are like my other family. Some people don't think its a great school, but it really is. I love it and I really couldn't ask for anything better!!
Tioga High School
Hi, I'm Caity, a sophomore at Tioga High. Tioga may be a small school, but it is like one big family. Because of its small size, we can form closer relationships with our teachers and have a better school experience. There is a lot less conflicts than you would find at a larger school, and "cliques" are almost non-existent. It is great to have such a supportive community. I love being able to cheer on our successful sports teams at our home games. Tioga is really just such a friendly school.
Thanks Tioga High
Hey, I'm Brianna, a sophomore at Tioga High. This is a great school, for so many reasons. Being in a small school has its advantages, like getting more help with teachers. Transfering from a school of 1,000 kids to here made me see how much better smaller schools are. Everyone here at Tioga, including the teachers, are so friendly. THANKS TIOGA!
Hi my name is Andrea Sanchez and I’d like to tell you how much I enjoy my school. I love Tioga High School for so many reasons. Attending such a small school has its ups and downs, but Tioga is really great. Everyone knows everyone which makes for good friendships and a happy, never awkward atmosphere. All of your teachers know you on a first name basis which is very helpful. You can go to almost any of your educators if you don't understand something and they will dedicate their time to making sure that you fully understand the curriculum. Everything is just so friendly and inviting about Tioga and that’s what I think people love the most! It’s like one big family. So thank you for visiting our blog, stop by soon!

Snack Shack, and Trash Problems..
The school temporarily shut down the Snack Shack, due to litter on the campus.
Please help keep the campus clean, even if its not your trash, please pick it up.
A lot of kids rely on the Snack Shack for food, so do your part.
Its not fair to the kids who do clean up their garbage.
